Foundational beliefs that govern our interactions with the world are ever present, often subconscious and more frequently than we are comfortable admitting…contradicting. Hence, the best comedians find plenty of material in simple day to day interactions we can all relate to because our actions betray us.

There are layers to our belief systems. Some are just popular philosophies we are trying on like a new pair of jeans, and to young ones, all philosophies are new play-things to stretch to their limits. Whether deep rooted or not, impressionable young minds pick up on subtleties, even if they cannot articulate the philosophy, the belief, the curious answer to “why?”

As mentors, examining our thoughts and establishing a conceptual framework of education, intelligence and acceptable results, prepares a healthy, constructive ideology for each child to thrive in. Thus, dabbling in a bit of informal philosophy can have a substantial payout in opportunity and quality of life.

Contemplate and recalibrate as you see fit. It can be truly invigorating.
